Trump Truce Tested: Israel Strikes Gaza, Netanyahu Lays Down Veto Law

by admin477351

The Donald Trump-brokered truce in Gaza is being severely tested by Israeli military action and new political demands. An Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp prompted Hamas to accuse Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of undermining the peace.
As the ceasefire falters, Netanyahu is laying down the law for Gaza’s future. He declared Sunday that Israel will have an absolute veto on which nations can join a peacekeeping force. “Israel will determine which forces are unacceptable to us,” he said.
This stance, which Netanyahu claims the US supports, is already causing friction. He has signaled strong opposition to Turkish involvement. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio backed the principle, stating the force must be “comfortable” for Israel.
Rubio also stressed that Hamas must be excluded from Gaza’s future. US officials are reportedly exploring a UN resolution to authorize the force, which could include Egypt and Gulf states.
The truce is also strained by a dispute over remains. Trump warned Hamas he is “watching very closely” to ensure the return of more Israeli bodies, a process Hamas claims is difficult.
